Early morning situation with pedestrians all walking in same direction

Context of the observation

Thousands of people create human traffic jams early every morning on the path out of the Kibera slum into the city center and industrial districts of Nairobi. Pedestrian traffic is an important component of individual transportation within the city, however, pedestrian pathways are frequently unkempt, and are generally not figured into the planning of the transportation infrastructure in the city.
